Can't insert table of contents in master document due to only headings accepted.
Cause:
By default, the Table of Contents only accepts heading entries.
Solution:
Create a table of contents that uses TC fields.
1) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Index and Tables...'. (The Index and Tables dialog box appears.)
2) Select the 'Table of Contents' tab.

3) Click 'Options...'. (The Table of Contents Options dialog box will appear.)

4) Select the 'Table Entry Fields' check box.

5) If headings are not to serve as the entries in the Table of Contents, clear the 'Styles' check box.
6) Click 'OK' to close the Table of Contents Options box.
7) Click 'OK' to close the Index and Tables box.
